This year was pretty much a Mike Cortez audition for the pros. The way he performed this year was several notches above the rest of the players in the league. He was robbed of the MVP trophy this year.

Please take note that we are doing a recap on all seasons of the 2000 decade. Whether we won (Parts 1 and 2) or lost (this article) we will reminisce them as they are all part of our team’s journey this decade.

True 2002 was not a good one for us but that’s how it is and we should still be proud of the team win or lose.

Please watch out for the succeeding parts of this series.

of all the past seasons we had to reminisce, why a losing one? IMHO not a good way to start the 2009 season. we could have remembered the 1989 season(i was there) wherein we won our first title against a heavily favored FEU squad or in 1999 against a seemingly invincible UST team.

i remember watching game 1 of the finals at araneta and just feeling deflated after watching mac-mac’s two last-second hook shots blocked by fonacier. mike cortez was the man back in the day. nostalgia trip.
