I am pretty amused of the DLSU play. It is very unpredictable in both negative and positive ways.

Positive:
The rookies are quite talented and yes they lack experience so they are really perform way better than expected. Especially the guards who dribble the ball like crazy. I mean they are able to control the ball despite the nervousness and other factors that only the veterans could have coped up to.
Webb is way better than the previous season, I think that he should be given more playing time to fully unleash his talent. I personally saw him play during my HS years where their team would literally pulverize our team w/ more than 20+ points and was not able to see any hint of that performance last year.
Ferdinand seems to have his breakout year this season. As far as the two games are concerned, I think that he's the best performing archer. Working hard for the rebounds and defense.

Negative:
WHERE THE HELL ARE OUR VETERANS!?!?! These veterans should be teaching the rookies how to play like a champion. Most of these veterans were part of the DLSU come back team and they have lots of UAAP experience. But I don't see them stepping up to their game.
No Hustle! No one is slashing through the lane. It seems that the old defense of DLSU is gone. No presses or whatsoever.
No leader. This is obvious, no one is being the Green Archer icon. Unlike in the previous seasons, there were Casio, Maier, Tang, Yeo and Cardona. I can't see anyone who has the guts to have the leadership. And this just reminds me of Bagatsing being the team captain, I think that Barua could have been more appropriate instead of this 2nd year player.
Barua needs to step up! He's part of the RP team and I haven't seen any of his moves yet. I think that he should ask for the ball for a lot more times and shoot some basktets. He has talent and experience which will make him a candidate for the next DLSU icon.

b-9,

Give some credit to Barroca. The guy is good already before and improved some more when he played with the smart-gilas national team. It's not easy defending against him. Remember how he dismantled our defense last year in the second round? If I'm mistaken he unloaded 26 points against us going isolation against his defender. The help defense even couldn't do anything against him. And by help, I mean shot blocker Rico Maierhofer chasing after his shot.

You'll have to wait for next season to see LA Revilla go up against Monfort. LA isn't on the team this year due to illness. Joel Tolentino, on the other hand, should be a good match up for any point guard of the competition.

Here's the roster of the Green Archers for season 72: http://www.greenarchers.ph/2009-de-la-salle-green-archers-roster/

yeah, it's just the start of the season. i know it's too early to tell but with the way these guys are playing, it looks like they'll never make it to the final 4... Excited ako sa match up between Monfort and Revilla. Monfort has been scoring really well for AdMU while Revilla is not contributing a lot for the greenies.

The key is improvement. You cannot simulate game conditions in practice no matter how hard the coaches push the players so it's vital that the players learn as much as they can during the game! Not having watched any of the games so far, the news about the team playing better against FEU is welcome news indeed. In order to become winners, consistency is key so it helps when the players show improvement. Of course, you still have to protect the ball on offense and play hard on defense but little things matter at this level of play and as long as the team continues to show progress, I think they can be productive all season.

archers really lack a solid scorer to lean on right now...I think coaches need to focus on their frontline...parang soft sila in terms of defending the boards

i think kelangan lang nila ng warm up.. problema kasi pressure kaagad sumalubong sakanila.. why? UE muna den FEU naman.. siguro kelangan muna ng warm-up.. dapat UP or NU muna kasi consistent sila kasi diba syempre hindi naman sa nakakainsulto ako..nakasanayan na nating sabihin na "ahh sisiw lang yan sla" im sure yan din ang nasa isip ng ibang players.. tapos diyan sila nagkakaroon ng team work because of consistency.. tapos pag nakalaro na ang ateneo, nasa isip na nila na, "ano ang nagpapanalo samin last game? ahhh consistency lang atsaka team work ang naging paraan namin upang manalo so kelangan lagi akong consistent and makisali sa teamwork.." and they will keep on repeating it and they'll keep on winning at the same time when this time comes..

This reminds me of ateneo's "dark ages" in the 90's. Except now, the shoe is on the other foot. So the only thing I'm looking forward to this year, is that we UPSET ateneo twice. Nevermind if those are our only two wins of the season. It will be mission accomplished, if that happens.
