Pregame Bullets: DLSU vs ADU 8/13

  • Currently with a winning record of 4-3, the Green Archers will do some Bird Hunting over the next two playdates to start the second round. First up are the Adamson Soaring Falcons this Thursday.
  • Soaring is kind of misleading if you describe the kind of season Adamson is having now. They ought to be called the Sorry Falcons or Low-flying Falcons with all their hapless setbacks as of late. Their loss against UE a couple of weeks back was indeed a killer blow to their confidence. But of course there is still one whole round for them to recover.
  • In their previous match-up in the first round, the Archers escaped by the skin of their teeth in overtime. Thanks to an unnecessary foul committed by Adamson’s Camson with only a few seconds left, Maui Villanueva was able to break the tie via the free throw stripe. The Archers won 64-63.
  • Some call it an ugly win due to the team’s horrendous shooting. Though the Archers’ offensive output is improving significantly as of late, the key to win this game still has to be on defense.
  • The team may have lost against Ateneo to close the first round but I believe this does not in any way dampen their spirit. Confidence-wise the Archers are on a roll and we hope they continue to improve as we head to the homestretch of this season.
  • Let’s hope that the injury and health-related problems of the Archers are now behind them, so they can give it 100%. This is the homestretch, and how they perform will determine how they will figure in the playoffs.
  • At present, there is a 5-way battle for the playoffs. FEU and Ateneo are two games ahead of La Salle, UE, and FEU, but that 2-game advantage can easily disappear. So starting now, every game will count towards the placings. 4 wins should be enough to get the team to the  final 4, but of course it’s best not to take any team for granted.

I’m sorry, I don’t like the purple sand advertisement at the bottom right of this site. I’m impressed with the intellectual discussion level of this site and I think that advertisement lowers the image of this site. Does it have to be there?

  • greenie4ever

While the team barely scraped past the Falcons in the first round, I think the team has continually improved/matured over the next succeeding games culminating in an “almost” unpset win over ateneo. I’m confident we will play better this time around. Just the same, I wish the team good luck. KEEP THE FAITH. ANIMO LA SALLE!

The green archers should never take the Falcons lightly. most of the defeats of adamson were by small margins, including our game against them in the first round. la salle should just play with tenacity and passion. be aggressive on both ends of the court. be focused on the game, as our team is rookie-sophomore laden team, we are prone to mental lapses.

May I have the standings of the Juniors team, both in the NCAA and UAAP, and the Lady Archers? Does this site have updates on these? Thank you!

I’d have my focus on andrada on this game. He can really have a big impact if he can block a couple of shots from the falcon’s back court. It would really discourage the good slashing and cutting of their guards and force the falcon’s offense to be placed high-court.

Ray, this is a website about De La Salle and the first and only thing you have to say is about some ad that you don’t like. Sounds like trolling to me… go troll somewhere else!

This game vs. Adamson scares me. It scares me because everyone has Ateneo on their minds. It scares me because Adamson has a score to settle and La Salle has Ateneo ahead. It scares me because this game is your classic “trap game” where a team like Adamson, who has very little to lose and everything to gain can really make progress in their season by beating a team like La Salle. In sports, especially league play, you have to take it one game at a time and unless you do that and NOT overlook any team – just ask Ateneo and losing to UP – you are going to get stung, or in this case, clawed!

  • happyhappy

James G, there you go. we were trapped. you are right, the archers really have to take it one game at a time and not just focus on their games with the stronger teams, in terms of current teamstandings. Ohwell, I still hope they beat Ateneo on Sunday, the 4 other teams as well. KEEP THE FAITH GUYS!!! :D

In this case I wish I was 100% wrong, but I’ve seen it happen before too many times. Honestly, this is a game that the coaches lost for the team, not the players. Sure the players played the game but the coaches have to “force the focus” on the players and convince them that this was THE most important game of the season, which they obviously failed to do. I expect a better result against Ateneo this weekend but losing to ADU can cost them in the playoff hunt coming up! We had a chance to make strides but a young team will have their moments, both good and bad!
