Martin Reyes? As in the Martin Reyes currently playing for the Fighting Maroons? and who are the players who will not play for the team next year? if there is any.

@jesto, Papot was one of the last to be cut from the team, together with Martin Reyes. Both played in the preseason games, but only 16 players are allowed to be in a school’s lineup. They are now part of Team B that is currently competing in the Fr. Martin’s Cup. One of the vacancies was caused by the illness of LA Revilla. LA is being given time to recuperate, and hopefully will be able to rejoin the team next year.

How about the case of Papot Paredes? He’s from cagayan de oro, i believe.
Why can’t he play next year? Any answers would be great.

Good thing there’s only 8 teams in the UAAP men’s basketball league… I mean, where would we be if the NCAA and UAAP merged? Where would we rank, I wonder? Anyway, I digress…

The bottom line is to win the games we are supposed to win and that starts with taking UP down this weekend. Don’t worry about UE, UST or FEU because UP is up next, not those teams! Focus on the task at hand, take care of it, THEN worry about what’s ahead! The key to this weekend’s game is to make sure that our boys in green and white play like they can and take care of the Maroons. Let me remind everyone looking to UE and FEU that the most important game the Archers have to play is the next one… not the one in two or three weeks!

If I’m not mistaken, this is now known as the Cardona rule. If an athlete has spent more than a number of years studying abroad (I don’t remember how many), he will have to go through a 2 year residency before he can play. This is the reason why Hyram had to sit for 2 years, and was able to suit up for the Green Archers only last season. Although Hyram has more years of playing eligibility, he will exceed the the UAAP age limit by next season, so this is his second and last year as a Green Archer. UP’s sharpshooting Mike Silungan is going through his residency under the same rule. I think the 1-year residency applies to players who transfer from other Philippine colleges/universities to a UAAP member school.

The Veterans really need to step up. But I really like the rookies especially Webb and Marata… Their cool. They should set example for the veterans.

I thought residency is only for one year? How come in the case of Norbert Torres, it has to be two years? I know he can ball badly.
Papot Paredes is also a big guy. I think they’re gonna be better than RV Bringas.

thanks for the info on the zobel grads. Regarding Capacio, sources tell me he does not want to go to FEU to play for his dad. Maybe if he is forced and Anton Montinola pursues him pero he should consider his future too by graduating from DLSU. Elorde should be good as well, we really need a good point guard.
