Pregame Bullets: DLSU vs UE 8/29

  • It can’t get any tougher than this. With only 4 games remaining in the elimination round, the Green Archers will start the daunting task of overcoming three teams currently in the top 4 of the standings and 1 also-ran that has a history of playing the spoiler’s role. At this point, the team can control its fate, but one loss during this upcoming season homestretch could prove to be fatal.
  • In their first round encounter which happened on opening day, the Green Archers were blown out by the Red Warriors 65-46. I feel that UE is the most dangerous team among the next 4 opponents. They are currently on a 2 game winning streak and are coming off a morale boosting win against the Tamaraws. The Warriors are in solo 3rd, and they are gunning for the twice to beat edge.
  • Their bench may not be deep but the Warriors are enjoying such great performances as of late from Paul Lee, Pari Llagas and Elmer Espiritu. Iit will be very hard to contain these veterans most especially the high-flying Espiritu, who still manages to produce excellent numbers despite the bandaged forehead and all.
  • The Green Archers will face a Red Hot Team this Saturday. The long bumpy road to the Final4 starts this weekend. What we can only wish for is for the team to Play Like’s There’s No Tomorrow. Because there may not be if they lose this one.
  • Let’s hope the previous defensive problems are corrected for this game. Lee torched our perimeter defense repeatedly with his penetrations and dishes. UE’s arsenal includes several accurate shooters from the long court aside from their athletic bigs who are good inside operators.

animo. go, go, go, green and white! i am praying really hard now.

Who will be guarding elmer espiritu and paul lee? good defense positioning will keep llagas in check but it’s the one-on-one plays of espiritu and lee that may kill us. joshua will be too slow for lee, bader and hyram should keep him in-check and our front line should watch out for his drop passes. if the front line also can just allow espiritu to take jumpers all game long then that’s fine. he can hit those shots but is still non-consistent to be guarded heavily 15 feet away from the basket. Let’s go guys! Keep the faith!

Right now, i’m expecting a 5-9 record for us but hoping for 8-6. Either way, i’m a lasallian through and through. ANIMO.

many students can’t go to the game tomorrow because of the final exams next week, but expect most of us to be glued on our tv sets.

hopefully we can control the tempo of the game. let them play our game, halfcourt, hardnosed.

let’s all hope the four game winning streak early this season is repeated.

    Animo!

if they know how to a. defend players who likes to penetrate (from the likes of lee, alvarez, reyes, garcia, salamat) and b. shoot reaching 51% percentage per game. final 4 or even finals is still possible. now is the time to sharpen your arrows, losing this one is unacceptable.

Mathematically, our team can still make the playoffs. All they have to do is win out, meaning not lose another game…

In my opinion, UE is a legitimate championship contender. They have good athletes and are well coached, but as their record would show, they are indeed beatable. Beating UE tomorrow would do wonders in boosting the confidence of this young La Salle team… Let’s hope that the coaching staff has prepared our team for this test because a loss now spells the end, plain and simple. I like the odds though…

If I was able to talk to the team I would tell them that at this point we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by beating UE. I would stress that we beat UST and held strong against Ateneo in the first game. I would focus on the positives and not mention any of the negatives and ask the players to give it their all, regardless of outcome.

Play hard, limit your mistakes and good things will happen. Our boys just need to catch a break…

  • Mac

What can i say, Just keep the animo spirit alive guys. Anything can happen. Never under estimate the heart of the green archers.

  • Fred Cebu

Just put the cuffs on Lee and Espiritu. Assign to them their own personal bodyguards for 4 quarters. That should do the trick! Shutout the 2 and we win the game. Good luck Archers!

  • sun

A tough and nice game from the Archers! Sayang lng we didn’t win. I’m sure they got their groove and fighting spirit back! Just in time for the crucial UST game. I’m confident they’ll make the last three games! ANIMO LA SALLE!

  • GREENARCHERS.PH

All is not lost yet. Unfortunately though, the team’s fate is anymore in their control. UST has to lose some games for us to tie which I feel is still an achievable goal. At this point, we should not anymore lose.

  • albert

It’s fine even if we are loss to UE!! I know we can make it to final 4!

  • Mike H

DLSU should put this game under protest…I watched the replay of the game and it was clear that the last shot (with the score at 66-64 and about 30 sec. left)of Bagatsing should have been counted and given a bonus free throw…this was another bad call by the refs which may have cost DLSU the game…even the TV analysts felt it should have counted since there was continuity in his play when fouled…LaSallians there is still one hope left…we win all 3 games and UST loses at least to UE…Animo La Salle! Never say die!
