now this is the right way to count the “true” results

  • O_o

Nice to see someone like Willie Wilson who really did the dirty work of rebounding and being the “enforcer” in the paint getting recognized :D don’t get me wrong our spit fire guards/small forwards are great but its nice to see a hard worker like him get his due

  • xbluex

    monster team!

but mon jose isn’t included?? i would take him over cholo or arana in a heartbeat! this guy gave ateneo guards (and the rest of the league for that matter) nightmares!

and adonis sta. maria is surely underrated. he was undersized but gave enrico villanueva and the other admu bigmen fits with his gritty play.

anyway, good idea for the list. hope ateneo copies this and makes a poll too.

  • green minded

does ateneo have a website similar to this site? :)

  • dags

Great team! Not sure about Cholo and Ryan, Mon Jose indeed should be there. Pero ok na to, kaysa naman may Atkins at Malabes. I wonder if any of the current players we have now would have stellar UAAP stints the way these guys did. I’d say Webb, Marata, Bringas, Tolentino, and Andrada have what it takes to become great players.. I only hope they continue to improve on their game.

  • Greenblood

It would be nice to pit this team versus the Blue Eagles All-Decade team, if they can come up with one. That will be another super Dream Game between the two rivals which we haven’t had for awhile.

  • GREENARCHERS.PH

does ateneo have a website similar to this site?

    Not quite sure

  • xbluex

ateneo has a number of websites similar to this, but i don’t think we have a poll like this (we really should).

i agree! a matchup against these great teams would be fun to watch.

in any case, here’s what i think the ateneo all-deacade team should look like:

    enrico villanueva
    rich alvarez
    la tenorio
    rabeh al-hussaini
    jc intal
    chris tiu
    larry fonacier
    nonoy baclao
    wesley gonzalez
    macky escalona

would’ve loved to put japeth, but he didn’t really make a mark on ateneo basketball. tough to exclude players like kramer and salamat also

  • 10409114

wala naman tatapat sa website na to!!! yes!! bwhahaha

i agree, i’d love to have adonis sta maria in the list! workhorse un!!

  • ICJ

very realistic results, unlike those before.

good job on the staff of this website! this is what you call a quality website for quality viewers!!!

    Animo La Salle!!!

  • NSC911

Sa lahat ng nasa list, iba talaga sila Ritualo, Casio, Yeo and Cardona. Even when they are having bad games, you can see opposing teams always being careful because they just might hit that one shot that will change the flow of the game! On the other hand, I think that dapat kasama sa list sila Mon Jose and Adonis Sta. Maria. They may not have been the best in terms of gifts but they always gave 100%.

  • Proud Archer

Good choices. Notice that 7 out of our 10 choices are guards. As a matter of fact, the first five are either point or off guards or a combination of 1 and 2. The La Salle system thrives on guard defense and scoring. The big men are mostly defensive specialists, like Willie Wilson and Adonis Sta. Maria. Rico Maierhoffer can also bring up the ball well. Next season, we should have good point and off guards, with a spattering of shooters, a couple of utility men, and a big rebounding and shot blocking threat. We have most of that from this year’s team. Let’s hope we blend them together next year. xbluex list includes only two point guards and two off guards. The rest are big forwards and centers. That is the difference between our school’s basketball philosophies. That is why it is always fun to watch a La Salle Ateneo game. Animo La Salle!!!!

  • 105

@xbluex I suggest you tell the sites to create a poll :) it would be fun to compare the two all decade teams

  • jerometest

galing! pasok sa all-decade team ang favorite tandem ko.

    Yeo-Cardona. :) )

  • http://greenarchers.ph dieharddlsu

Ritualo is my favorie player in the last decade. even whhen arteneo put the much taller and defense oriented rich alvarez on him, ritualo never backed down on alvarez’ challenged. though alvarez succedded in making life difficult for ritualo, ren-ren still had enough guts to carry La Salle to the championship in his final year, and against ateneo to boot

Ramon Jose should be in this list. he made steals as common as making two-pointers. the steals leaders of today like salamat and baroca do not hold a candle to jose.

Looking at the poll results, i noticed that most of those in the line-up play either the 1, the 2, or the three positions which gives credence to the success to the full court press of coach franz during the time these guys played .most of these guys played in the early to mid 2000s. ergo this could also be the reason why this year the press was not that successful. often times resulting in easy baskets for the opposing team. just imagine in 2001 ritualo and cortez were the main attractions with rookies cardona and yeo supporting them

  • http://www.anthonydio.com/ anthonydio

Yeah, Mon Jose and Adonis Sta. Maria should be on the roster! If only there are two more slots in the All-Decade Team…

How about a 1990-1999 All-Decade Team? I’m sure Ritualo will make it there too…

  • Fred Cebu

How about Carlo Sharma? How many votes did he get?

  • GREENARCHERS.PH

not too many. he placed 15th

  • DLSU2000-2004

Man…. something should be done with our scouting staff… look during the period 2000-2004 we got top class players! look 2000- Cortez, 2001 – Cardona, Yeo n Cholo V. 2002 – TY Tang 2003 – JV CAsio n Arana 2004 -Rico M.
Not to mention : Gaco and Junjun Cabatu as other top recruits during 2000-2004
    Who did our Scouts get for 2005? 2006? 2007? 2008 or 2009???

  • GREENARCHERS.PH

Seems that you have not been watching the team after 2004. I can tell you that we have a good cast of players and just like all those that you mentioned, it will take some time for them to really shine. Stars aren’t born overnight.

  • animo green

hahaha lahat to pinili ko ah…nice! SABI N EH!

  • banemalr

if we need to fight Ateneo’s All Decade Team, Ateneo will overpower us with size. Saw their list… Amazing, ang lalaki.

We need to beat them with heart with our team above.

  • xbluex

eventhough we may overpower your team with our size, you still have that legendary press! i think even with tenorio ang tiu, you guys have the advantage in terms of guard play.

and if it comes down the wire, i bet we’ll be seeing amazing clutch plays. i can see it now, fonacier tenorio and tiu making big time plays. then ritualo casio and yeo come up with their own clutch plays.

i’d really pay to see this game!

  • xbluex

plus the added entertainment of trash-talking between wesley and macmac! haha

  • kat :)

    yeo-cardona! \:D/

  • Bianca

    Yes!Go Mac-mac..Capt.Hook truly deserves a spot there..
