This was an excellent series; a first-hand account from Mr Big Shot himself. I was there in the bleachers, and that shot exorcised the ghosts of bridesmaid finishes past. Even though we had eliminated them from the Final Four two years running and were already the defending champs, breaking UST's heart in the Finals meant so much more. So, Mr Dino, thanks so much for having the guts to bounce back during that season and for having big brass ones to take that shot. Huge weight lifted off my chest. I just wish you hit that free throw, though. Perfect ending sana, but what the hey. The good guys won anyway. Thought NSWF was Not Suitable For Work… gotta get my eyes check.

We skipped school and went to buy gen-ad tickets from a scalper for P200, but it was well worth it. The game was AMAZING; the crowd was going crazy in Cuneta. Idol talaga ang big three. Every since then, i was a fan of the Archers and enrolled in DLSU after high school hehe. ANIMO LA SALLE! This was the first UAAP game I watched back when I was a junior in high school. Then to my delight I had a chance encounter with Dino himself some time after when he came to see a car that I was selling and I paid him homage by saying that he was the hero of that championship game! I remember he took in stride, almost to the point of being embarrassed for the accolade. That was a memorable moment for me. Dino is the man. Tumayo ang balahibo ko nung pumasok ang 3points ni dino,everytime the game was replay in channel 4 that year 1999. I always watch it. Im not from la salle, but dino aldeguer makes me a la salle fan during that season until now. Nagtataka nga ako, may time nung season na yun bakit wala sa rotation si dino. But he proves at the end who really led the team that year. From aldeguer era until now maybe joshua webb era dugong la salle na ako. ANIMO LA SALLE! Me and my dad went to this "alumni reunion" sa Chevy's, sa Foster city california, and it was actually a lunch for the Green Archers who were also on vacation then. I remember the guy who hosted the lunch even gave Franz a book on coaching as franz made his speech. Anyway, I remember Dino Aldeguer, always smiley and pa-picture ng pa-picture, along with sila Mon Jose and Francis Zamora. Andun pa nga yung nire-recruit nila noon, si Migz Gozum (rip). Sayang, nung time na yun, la pako pakialam sa basketball, much less the green archers, so I was bored out of my wits. What a great article, grabe !
