Marko Batricevic’s Balkan Express – Eastern European Home Cooking

Former Green Archer Marko Batricevic is now dishing out delectable Serbian cuisine in his very own restaurant, Balkan Express.

Marko has been living in the Philippines for some time now. He completed his high school at La Salle Greenhills and is soon to finish his Marketing degree at De La Salle University. He played two seasons for the Green Archers in the UAAP and was a member of the 2007 championship team. When injuries cut his basketball career short, he decided to become a restaurateur.

The food business runs in Marko’s family. His brother is actually the one who cooks the meals. Marko plans to settle here and focus on his business full-time after he graduates.

Marko’s fondest memory of his college playing career was of course winning the 2007 UAAP men’s basketball title after the Archers were suspended the year before. “During the suspension year, that was when the team was very close with one another and we won all the tournaments we participated in”, he said. He still faithfully watches the games of the Archers and he is optimistic that the team will regain their footing as a legitimate contender in the coming years.

So to all you foodies out there, if you are in the mood to try some Serbian-style cooking, you may want to check out Balkan Express. You can check a review of this restaurant at Our Awesome Planet.

i'm not familiar with the that area, but is that P Guevarra St the same one if go via Wilson St?

LSGH boy here '83 gonna mozey on over there and try some balkan treats.

Off Topic: I would just like to share Rico Maierhoffer's comments in his post-game best player interview last night in their win versus Meralco ( he had 9 points, 14 rebounds and 5 BLOCKS): "Ganyan talaga baskebetball, madaming banggaan.. kung ayaw mong ganun, eh di magchess ka nalang.. Papasalamat ako sa mga tiga puwero galera, etc... Animo!" It's good to note the animo spirit is still very strong with this fellow :) Animo!

Been there twice, as it's close to Greenhills. Good food, generous servings, informal warm ambience, personalized service by Marko and his brother. The second time I went with my children Joaquin and Bea (both La Salle alumni), Coach Toroman was also having late lunch with his wife, daughter and grandchild. Limited parking, but worth the trip.

been there twice and would say that the burger is really good. the serving is big and it's possible to share. i wish marko all the best. yum-yum balkan! animo!

So that is why I saw him inside that resto eating with coach toroman of smart gilas. thanks for the info. i will try your menus one of these days marko. keep up the good work!
