La Salle will once again troop to the court this Monday to start their bid in the Philippine Collegiate Championships. Unlike a season ago where they had to go through the zonal eliminations, the Green Archers automatically secured a slot in the “Sweet 16” after finishing among the top four teams in this year’s UAAP. They will face the Letran Knights (again) in the first round.
It what may perhaps be the exclamation mark to their woeful 2009 campaign, the Archers unexpectedly got the boot early in last season’s tournament as they lost to the short-handed Knights 72-83. La Salle will be fielding in their UAAP team that made it to the final four this season.
Showing renewed confidence, the Green Archers stepped up their performance this year. This team will most likely contend in the long run with more experience and additional pieces. Overall, the Archers are headed in the right direction.
Even if this “National” tournament does not carry the same level of prestige as in the UAAP, this is still an opportunity for the Green Archers to finish 2010 on a high note and get some extra confidence going for next year.
The game will be at the Fil-Oil Flying V Arena at 4PM. Televised on Studio23. The winner of this knock-out match will meet either San Beda or UE in the next round.
