PCCL Round-of-8: Beating the Red Lions is a tall order

For a De La Salle team hampered by injuries and player absentees, it would take a massive effort for the team to pull the rug from San Beda in their PCCL round-of-eight match-up tomorrow. With talent, height and experience on their side, the Red Lions are heavily favored to advance to the final four of this tournament.

The NCAA champions won’t take this game lightly. This team is out to prove that their 18-0 season sweep is no fluke and they can also win against the other top teams in the country. Being the only remaining NCAA team in the running in this tournament, the Red Lions would want to make history as being the first PCCL champion coming from their mother league.

Already without Joshua, Gab and Joel, the Green Archers would probably be without Simon and Luigi as well for tomorrow’s game. Both players sustained injuries during their game against Letran the other week. La Salle would need another good performance from guys like Sam, Oda , Almond and Jovet to make up for the scoring void left by those not around to play.

The challenge for the Green Archers is how to stop Daniel. Our big men would need to put up a gallant effort in order to keep him off the boards and challenge his shots. Other Red Lions to watch out for are Lanete, Pascual, Marcelo and Dela Rosa. Their top point guard Hermida is no longer around as he is already playing in the PBA.

The odds are stacked against the Green Archers in this game. But if the team executes well on offense and makes the right stops, then maybe we’re in for an upset.

The game will be at the Fil-Oil Flying V Arena at 4PM. Televised on Studio23. The winner of this knock-out match will meet either FEU or AdU in the final four to be played the following day.

it was a great win for us lasallites. hail hail hail

Great game archers! :) Job well done! This one I'd surely remember for a long long long time... :)

Hats off to the Archers!!! Great Win!!!

It's the heart that really matters in the end. The Archers played with heart from the opening tip-off until the final buzzer negating the experience and physical play of the Red Lions. That game saw the continued honing of basketball IQ of Maui Villanueva, Simon Atkins and Almond Vosotros and the impeccable fighting heart of the rest of the team. Objectively, the Archers are not only well-coached but also learning well the immemorial ANIMO in them. Play La Salle Basketball from hereon ARCHERS!

Hard-earned win, Archers! Wow, what a sweet victory. Odds are against the team, but you came fighting.

La Salle wins by 10 points. Final score 84 - 74.

ANIMO LA SALLE IM GONNA BE THERE TOMMOROW TO WATCH!
