Earlier, La Salle partly neutralized Junemar Fajardo’s strong inside presence and ran away with an 82-71 triumph over University of Cebu to cop third place honors.

The Green Archers unloaded a 22-0 run to rip the game wide open in the second quarter, hardly allowing the 6-9 Fajardo to touch the leather and do damage in that crucial span.

Almond Vosotros spiked that breakaway with two triples sandwiching a lay-up off a steal while Samuel Marata shot five, including a trey that pushed La Salle to a 42-19 spread, 1:30 before the half.

The Taft-based squad went on to post a 58-23 margin halfway through the third then quelled the Cebuanos’ fourth-quarter rally with clutch jumpers from Jarelan Tampus and Vosotros to complete the win.

Marata fired 18 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists while Vosotros had 17 points and six assists to lead DLSU, which played with only 10 players due to injuries to Simon Atkins, Luigi dela Paz and Jovet Mendoza.

Fajardo, who exploded for 30 points against Ateneo in the Final Four, wound up with 16 points and 23 rebounds. He also made five shot blocks and four feeds for UC, which was led by Edward Pao’s 17.

In Game 1 of the best-of-three championship series, Adamson defeated Ateneo 80-78. Game 2 will be played on Sunday.

I am not able to load the invision power board application required to access AP.com. I am using a MacBook Pro. Is this application only for windows based systems? Please help. Thank you.

agree with the posts so far, the tendency to collapse in crucial quarters are still there. good thing the archers had a big lead to cushion them for the win. still, their game is a big improvement from the last uaap. wonder what this team can do with a complete and healthy line-up. fajardo is 6'9"? wonder what future king archers torres and van opstal can do. with almost the same height, they both move faster than fajardo. can't wait to see them play! animo!

APCom is undergoing a software upgrade, and hopefully will be up within a couple of days. Yesterday's game was a study in contrasts - it was like 2 different teams. In the first half, the Archers played brilliantly, particularly in the 2nd quarter where they practically shut down UC. However, in the 2nd half, sitting on a big 30+ point lead, complacency set in and they allowed UC to gain a lot of momentum. A huge 35 point lead was cut to a slender 9 point lead with a couple of minutes left. It's a good thing that they regained their bearings under pressure. Hopefully it's lessons learned for the team. While they shouldn't pile it on and humiliate the opponents after taking such a big lead, they can opt to try other things such as a lock down defense or different defensive schemes. But they should never let the opponents take control of the game the way UC managed to do when they outscored us by a whopping 24 points in one stretch. Against more experienced or talented teams like the other UAAP squads, such letdowns can be fatal. Anyway, the offseason officially started yesterday. Let the boys enjoy being full-time students again, get some R&R, and savor the break. Next season will start soon enough in a few months.

For me, though were lessons to be learned here, I still found them a lot more improved than the UAAP season. Jovet is a huge loss to the team...so is Luigi and El Kapitan, as for Banal, well he hasn't really proven much last season and Joshua, though very talented and athlectic, seems to lack some sort of focus. No comment for Joel. They will get better. They may have sort of squandered a huge lead, but I believe they were just testing their strengths. If this were the UAAP Championship, I'm sure it would have been a whole different story with everyone healthy and us having a 30 point lead. These boys know how to win. They are learning fast and are improving every second. With Norbert, Arnold and Dan coming in (Maybe LA?), there will be significant improvement next season. These guys have surprised everyone. They can only get better. Let's have them enjoy this win, give them a short break to recharge.

@RG - same with me. Anyway, the Archers should play consistent basketball and should know what they are doing and capable to do inside the hardcourt. the battle for third was indeed the third game for the Archers without Webb, Banal, Tolentino, and Mendoza. They lost dela Paz, and Atkins to injuries and yet they are having a hard time playing consistent basketball. While it is true that the 22-0 run is commendable, the Archers actually sputtered on the fourth and final quarter. They allowed the UC shooters ample room to shoot, and they keep on throwing the ball. Undeniably, the game was a good lesson for them. Had UC have the mental focus and maturity of the Blue Eagles, the determination and inside strength of the Falcons, we are bound to lose. Ergo, the team should mature with regard to ball distribution, better and consistent shooting percentage from the outside, better freethrow shooting, effective floor communication most especially on defense, and better basketball IQ for them to be at par with the Eagles, Falcons and Tamaraws next UAAP season.

i know this is off topic but why cant i access AP.com?
