Archers take second NSL win; LSGH sweeps group

The De La Salle Green Archers returned from a training camp in Chicago to burn STI College-Sta. Rosa, 78-41, on May 18 in the Nike Summer League at the Far Eastern University Gym.

The Archers heated up in the middle quarters, limiting STI College to 11 points that span. Bader Malabes fired eight of his game high 12 points in the third period, where the Taft-based squad scored 27.

The Fil-Bahraini was the only double digit scorer for the green and white squad as Maui Villanueva and Peejay Barua were the next highest scorers with eight points.

Winston Balmaceda led STI with ten points and five rebounds.

This the Archers’ second victory in this tournament.They still have three more games to go before they wrap up the eliminations. Currently leading in their group is FEU with four wins and no losses.

De La Salle’s next game is on May 20 against Mapua Institute of Technology.
Balmaceda kept his team close until the end of the first quarter with eight points as the Laguna-based squad trailed by only one, 17-18.

In the same playdate, La Salle Greenhills swept its group, beating Rizal Technological University, 76-65.

Ervin Flores led the way with 20 points and four rebounds. Joseph Trajano had 14 markers.

Other double digit scorers for LSGH are Keir Sy with 11 and Jasper Tanhueco with ten.

RTU was headed by Eduardo Daquioag’s 14 points.

The Junior Blazers would face the second seed in juniors Group B in the quarterfinals.

    Though my comment is, please use the proper team name for La Salle GH. They are not the “Junior Blazers”. They are officially the “La Salle Greenies” outside the NCAA. In the NCAA, they are officially the “CSB-LSGH Greenies”.

    whether it be junior blazers or La Salle Greenies… what matters most is the Pride of being a LaSallian!! LSGH will be going against arch rival JRU tomorrow, June 2 at the FEU gym.
